Vishing voice phishing is a phone call built entirely around urgency: your account is compromised, a warrant is out for your arrest, a family member is in trouble. The details change, but the structure is always the same, because panic is what makes people skip the one step that would stop the scam.
A caller with your name, address, or partial account number sounds legitimate before they've asked for anything. That information is often just recycled from an earlier, unrelated data breach it doesn't mean the caller actually works where they claim to.
Legitimate banks, government agencies, and companies don't pressure you to act in the next five minutes, and they don't ask you to move money, buy gift cards, or read out a one-time code over the phone. Any call that does either of those is fraudulent, full stop.
Hang up. Then call the organization back using a number you already trust from the back of your card, or the official website you typed in yourself not any number the caller gave you or that shows up on caller ID.
Contact your bank's fraud line immediately if money or account details were shared, and change any password or PIN that came up during the call.
